Sunrise viewing event, which takes place at Mt. Gaeunsan playgrounds on the 1st January every year, is an occasion in which the residents of the District get together to figure out plans for a new year and wish for the health and prosperity of family, viewing the sunrise. Sunrise viewing event is made of cultural performance, exchanges of well-wishing remarks, drumming of hope, opening the gourd of hope, and throwing the balloon of hope. |
| Moon viewing event, which takes place at Gaeunsan playgrounds on the 15th January by the lunar calendar every year, is an occasion which revives the country’s old tradition of viewing the moon on that day. It is made of various cultural performances, representations of New Year old customs such as Daljipsari, burning of wishing letter, Ganggangsulle and traditional folk games such as Yutnori, Neolttwigi (seesaw), and Jegichagi. |
