| When former nationals of Korea who are now foreign nationals and foreign nationals born in Korea who are eligible to stay in Korea intend to stay in Korea for more than 90 days from the date they obtained eligibility, they must get registered. | |

| People engaged in diplomacy, public affairs, and implementation of agreements between their countries and Korea and their family | |
| People engaged in important tasks of diplomacy, industry, and defense and their family | |
| Those recognized by the Minister of Justice as being exempt. | |

| The Certificate of Alien Registration has to be returned to Immigration Office when one of the followings occurs: | |
| When leaving Korea permanently | |
| When abandoning foreign nationality and becoming a Korean national. | |
| When the registered foreigner has died | |
| When the registered foreigner does not need Alien Registration | |
| ※ If Certificate of Alien Registration is not returned on time, a fine will be imposed. | |
| Foreigners staying in Korea must carry their passport, entry permit for foreigners, or Certificate of Alien Registration. (Foreigners less than 17 years old are exempt.) | |
| When an immigration officer or government employee of cities, counties, and district in charge of immigration issues requests showing of passport or Certificate of Alien Registration, foreigners must show the document that they carry. | |
| Foreigners who do not carry and show their passport or Certificate of Alien Registration can be punished by Article 27 of Immigration Control Act. | |
| The content of Alien Registration must be changed when one of the followings occurs: | |
| ① Changing in name, gender, date of birth, and nationality ② Changing in passport number, date of issue, and the term of validity ③ When the organization to which foreigners with artist (D-1), student (D-2), and general trainee (D-4)visa holders belong has been changed (including change in the name of the organization). |
